Why we created Postumo?

Postumo was born from the experiences of two brothers, Julien and Franck Ridon, following the loss of their close parents, a grandmother and then an aunt.

To us, between family beneficiaries, the difficulty to understand whom to notify
the death, finding certain documents, the
lack of communication,
the
confusion with the role of the notary in this process, etc.

They realized that the lack of up-to-date information about a person was the key problem.

Julien and Franck decided to create Postumo
in order to be able to help the largest number of families

FAQ

Postumo is actually complementary to the will

The will is designed to list assets for inheritance and outline final wishes. It does not provide finer details about an asset. That's why this Postumo service was created to complement the will, by securing relevant information that the family can pass on to the notary.

In the event of death, Postumo allows to transmit immediately the data to the family members so they can immediately start the first posthumous formalities while waiting for the appointment with a notary.

Le testament est conçu pour lister les biens pour la succession ainsi que les dernières volontés.

  • However, not all information about assets is in a will. This is why Postumo makes perfect sense.
  • For example In a will, people can note which heir will receive real estate. However, no details exist on this property.
  • With Postumo, beneficiaries will be able to find the contact details of tenants, the names of home employees, rental agency, insurance linked to these assets, etc... in short, this is information that we do not find in a will.

Finally, not all personal properties are necessarily recorded in the will: jewelry, a watch, paintings, etc.

Postumo stands out for its comprehensive support and intuitive platform. Today, it is the first digital platform that allows you:

  1. to organize and safeguard personal data during your lifetime,
  2. guarantee transfer of your information that you wish to communicate to each loved one according to your wishes,
  3. to prepare all death procedures depending on the life course as well as detection of eligible aids.
  4. to complete your formalities over 12 months. Most services are only available for 3 months or 6 months. Postumo will support you for 24 months.

⊕ In addition to that, Postumo integrates an intelligent digital coach which will raise awareness among each user on subjects related to retirement, foresight, aging well and asset and estate optimization.

   – Digital safe: Designed for businesses for their employees, with a regulated level of security, but less focused on individuals.

  1. Type of data stored:

   – Postumo: Stores documents and personal information, ideal for sensitive data complementary to the will.

   – Postumo: Allows secure and organized transfer of information to loved ones after death, or guardianship with specific sharing options.

   – Free public clouds (Google Drive, Dropbox etc.): File sharing possible, but without specific mechanism for transmission at time of death.

   – Paper binder: Transmission possible physically, but with risks of loss or unauthorized access.

   – Digital safe: Mainly designed for professional information, transmission to loved ones is not a priority.

  1. Target audience versus other solutions

   – Postumo: Specifically dedicated to individual users, with protection of personal information.

   – Free public clouds (Google Drive, Dropbox etc): Used by individuals and small businesses for free storage and file sharing.

After your death, your next of kin will have to deal with a number of administrative formalities, such as registering the death at the town hall, contacting social security bodies, banks, and insurers, and settling the estate. It's a good idea to provide them with a list of the contacts and documents they'll need to make these formalities easier.

To get organized as you age and make it easier for your loved ones to manage your estate after your death, it is essential to adopt a methodical approach. Firstly, drafting a clear will is essential. This document allows you to detail the distribution of your assets and express your final wishes, thus reducing the risk of family conflicts and ensuring that your wishes are respected.

Secondly, the implementation of advance directives is strongly recommended. These guidelines outline your wishes regarding medical care and end-of-life decisions, in the event that you are no longer able to communicate them yourself. They ensure that your personal beliefs will be taken into account, thus relieving your loved ones of difficult decisions.

It's also crucial to organize and secure all your important documents, such as property deeds, insurance contracts, bank statements and investment account information. Using a file or safe, whether physical or digital, can be very useful. Make sure trusted people, such as a family member or executor, know where to find these documents and how to access them.

Planning your funeral in advance can also be beneficial. This involves thinking about the type of ceremony you want, choosing between burial and cremation, and the location of your grave. Preparing these details in advance can significantly ease the emotional and financial burden on your loved ones.

Finally, communication is key. Discuss your plans and wishes openly with your loved ones to avoid any confusion or surprises after your death. This ensures that everyone is on the same page and that your wishes are clearly understood.

In short, good organization of your personal and property affairs is essential to ensure a smooth transition for your loved ones after your departure. This involves thinking carefully about your wishes, documenting and securing your important information, and communicating effectively with those around you. For personalized advice and solutions tailored to your needs, consider consulting professionals or specialized platforms like Postumo, qui peuvent offrir un soutien précieux dans ce processus.

Expressing your last wishes is an essential step to ensure that our wishes regarding our property, our end-of-life care and our funeral are respected after our departure. To do this, several steps and means are recommended:

  1. Writing a will : This is the most formal and legally recognized means of expressing one's last wishes. A will allows you to designate the heirs of your property and can also include specific instructions for funerals. It is possible to draw up a holographic will yourself, but calling on a notary for an authentic will provides additional guarantees as to its validity and execution.

  2. Last wishes : This document allows you to express your wishes regarding medical treatments and care to receive or not to receive at the end of life, in the event that you are no longer able to communicate. This is a crucial element for respecting one’s wishes regarding health care.

  3. Enduring Power of Attorney : It allows you to designate one or more trusted people to take care of the management of your property and/or its protection if you become unable to do it yourself.

  4. Communication with loved ones : Beyond legal documents, it is important to openly discuss your wishes with family and close friends. These conversations can go a long way in helping your loved ones understand your preferences and respect them when the time comes.

  5. Organization and documentation : Gathering all important documents (will, advance directives, insurance policies, banking documents, etc.) in one safe place and informing a trusted person of their location is also a key step in ensuring that your wishes are known and accessible.

By anticipating and planning thoughtfully, you not only ensure that your wishes are respected, but you also ease the emotional and administrative burden on your loved ones after you are gone. For more information and personalized advice, do not hesitate to consult a legal professional or visit sites specializing in wealth management and estate planning.
